The first BESTFACT conference and award ceremony

The first BESTFACT conference was held at the Grande Arche de la Défense in Paris on the kind invitation of the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development & Energy responsible for transport, April 11th. The event gathered key logistics and intermodal players contributing their expertise while scientific project partners ensured the high quality of the analysed freight best practices.

The conference focused on smart logistics to enable a better use of existing infrastructure capacities. Since most citizens will live, work and move (goods) in urban areas by 2030, solutions are needed to bridge long haul international transport over short haul urban transport.

The EU Commission (DG MOVE) presented its transport and logistics policies and strategies, responding to challenges related to competitiveness, environmental impact and limited resources. Measures to support industry in overcoming its challenges were presented in the form of tools, standards, infrastructure, governance frameworks and smart pricing.
